Dental implants are anchored in bone. So having healthy vital bone of sufficient size is the key to having long-term dental implant success!
Unfortunately, recent research has shown that the vast majority of dental implant surgeons in America continue to use bone graft materials that are now known to cause dental implant problems, bone loss, and/or failure. Not to mention the risk of disease transmission, such as occured with the deadly TB out break that recently occured with such a bone graft product!
But the good news is, if you have a non-savable, hopeless, dead, problematic, infected and/or failed root canaled tooth, Dr Larsen employs only bone graft products that are natural based that promotes bone growth that have no risk of disease transmission! This combined with a specially designed metal-free dental implant typically allows us to place the implant same day the tooth is removed (molar teeth we usually extract and let heal for a few months, then we place the dental implant at the second visit.) Safe, relaxing, oral sedation and/or laughing gas can also be employed during the procedure. (Molar teeth removal frequently involves employing healthy bone grafting and then waiting six months before metal-free dental implants are placed.)

Our Patient is missing her front tooth and wants a strong bio-inert, metal-free zirconia dental implant.

At time the dental implant is placed, usually we make a temporary crown for front teeth implants, so one is able to keep smiling during the healing phase.
No biting forces are to be placed on the implant during the 3 month healing phase. After which the temporary is removed, and preparation of the implant abutment and the tissue is employed so an individualized custom non-toxic crown can be made in our in-house lab that is then carefully bonded into place, all in a single visit!
Note: Some back and/or front teeth may also employ a special healing ring that Dr Larsen helped to develop with the implant manufacturer to painlessly maximize the healing process and results.
